I remember those times
When darkness crept upon me
Like a midnight adulteress.
Haunting shadows of my worries
And my burdens?
Too heavy for me to bear.
I was pregnant with despair
Trotting heavily along,
That strand of light
That comes with the dawn –
Just one ray of hope to hold on to.
I daresay, I have walked the paths
With the blackness enveloping me,
Fear cutting deep into the unseen,
Intricate yet delicate chambers of my heart.
Going forward, look impossible.
My foes behind, to my right and left:
Twin shoulders of impossibility
On this strait cry I, “Lord, make me ABLE!”
Lo! He’s done in my life
What seemed impossible- a new thing
Am renewed and back to life
Yeah, it’s dayspring
The white, cold and dead night is long
Gone, and for now I sing a new song.
He strings my testimonies
And I wear them dangling from my neck
Their brilliance, it more than seems
Blind my fears and dispels my doubts
Beautiful gems and pearls
Better, yea, much better than gold
Though through many pressures untold
