If You think You are Going too Slow...

God Has Not Forgotten You !
--- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---

For those who think life is moving too slow for their taste, your life seems a drag and you feel like you are lost amidst the lonely wilderness of desperation; or maybe the waves of frustration have swept you unto the shores of hopelessness. You are tempted to ask why things are going this way for you. During those times that you waited upon God in prayer, whether personally or in a corporately with others, you did hear God whisper to you concerning you. He did give you a peek at your glorious future.
Yet at present, the questions keep coming. When will be the fulfillment of my divine promises? When would the boundary lines fall in pleasant  places for me? When will my breakthroughs come forth?

I hear you say: "My mates are already working and i am still at home jobless, i want employment immediately", or "I have observed that my friends earn more so i need a better job soon." Or maybe "All my friends are married already. O God, why am i still single?" For some it is "Even my younger sister who got married after me has put to birth, when will i have my own child?" Probably, "The guest speaker at the last convention of my church who ministered with great anointing is much younger than myself, why can't i experience such unction in ministry?" There are so many questions that crop up when we rationalize why we should be facing our present circumstances. One of my spiritual fathers would say, "People like saying my mates have done this, my mates have done that; but how many of us will like to also say some of my mates are dead, why should i not die too?" I hear Paul telling you in Rom.8v18  with all confidence, "For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us." jj

A brother who i served with during my Youth Service days in Taraba State, towards his passing out, became fond of always saying, "Hold unto God. If you are trusting God as concerning what is next in your life after service, hold unto God. No matter what you find yourself going through after now, i implore you to hold unto God." These words come back to me whenever i come across Ps.16v8, "I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved."  The imagery this verse presents to me is that of a blind man being led by a guide. The blind beggar not only leans on his guide for direction, but also for safety and success. Under the illumination of Prov.3v5-6 we are admonished thus: "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."  Imagine if God were to be your guide through the labyrinth of life. Hence i came up with my own personal paraphrased version of the verse: "I have set the Lord always before me so i no go fit miss road." What do you think?

Remember Abraham? His first test as concerning God's promise to him was the TEST OF TIME. We should learn from his failure as regards this particular test so that we don't make similar mistakes. Abraham believed, but he thought he must help God, and that in taking Hagar he was insuring thar her child should be the fulfillment of God's promise. There were many things he knew he could not do, but surely he could do this, for this was what God wanted! What he overlooked was that this matter of the son went deeper than the mere question of his having one. What was vital was from whom the son came, who gave him? For instance, it is not a matter of being employed, but of who originates the job and whose power is behind it. Unless Abraham's son was God's gift, what use was he to God?

All Abraham got for his efforts was Ishmael. But thank God for His grace, for grace is God working instead of me (Rom.4v19). With Isaac it was a matter of time, God's time. We often think it would be good if the promise is manifested sooner, but when we understand God, we know what it is to wait for God's time. Not only was Ishmael valueless to God; none have so fought against God himself. To try to help God can be to injure His work in your life. There may be many Ishmaels, but there is only one Isaac. We can bring Ishmael on the scene at any time; there is only one time for Isaac- God's time! I have learnt not to help God do what He has said He shall do. Would you not rather wait for God? Shall we decide to wait for Isaac, or shall we determine to have Ishmael in his place?

So if you think you are going too slow, i encourage you to know that  God has not forgotten what He promised you so wait for Isaac, God's gift for you in that particular area of your life where you seem to be behind. Though it tarries it shall surely come to pass. Keep waiting for your Isaac, be it Isaac in ministry, or Isaac in marriage, or Isaac in career. I leave you now with the words of a song by Tonex titled "God Has Not 4Got"

*
God has not 4got (x4)
If He said that He would do it
It will come to pass
God has not 4got (x2)
*
Just keep on believing, God has not 4got (x2)
If He said that He would do it
It will come to pass
God has not 4got (x2)
*
Don't get discouraged, God has not 4got (x2)
If He said that He would do it
It will come to pass
God has not 4got

*
Wait on... Just wait on... Wait on... You got to wait on...
They that wait upon the Lord... Shall renew their strength...
They would mount upon wings as an eagle...
Wait on... Just wait on... He's not 4gotten you...
He said to Jesus my daughter is dead...
Jesus turned to him and said only believe.
Be not weary and He will do it... He's heard your cry, yeah
The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much
I have never seen the righteous forsaken or begging bread.
